Hip Hop artist Jones Andrews was born on December, 21st 1986 in Burlington, New Jersey. Jones grew up playing everything ranging from Soccer, Baseball, Basketball, and Street Hockey. As a kid, Jones was either in his room playing his NES and Sega Genesis or was out bike riding through the city with his friends. In July of 1997, Jones and his mother packed their bags and moved to her hometown of Roanoke Rapids, NC; little did he know, his life would be changed forever. The transition from the fast city to a slower paced rural lifestyle was one that Jones struggled with. Not having any friends and being an only child coupled with not having a positive father figure around at age 11, Jones took to writing poetry to help to deal with the stress.
Throughout Middle and High school, Jones would write rhymes during class and freestyle during lunch. During his Senior year at Northwest High School, he released a mixtape with a group known as the “SouthSideSquadrant” that was very successful. After being accepted into North Carolina A&T State University, Jones placed his musical career on the backburner to focus on obtaining his B.S. Degree in Computer Science. After obtaining two Summer internships in Minneapolis, Minnesota he felt that life was good until one day he realized how much music really meant to him; so in 2008, he decided to make a bold decision by dropping out of school and turning down a corporate job with a fortune 500 company to pursue his dream.
Now having a renewed desire for making music and a strong NC following and blog support, Jones is beginning to build the foundation required to have a successful career. Within the past year alone, he has opened for Lupe Fiasco, Wiz Khalifa, Big Sean and B.O.B. Over the years, he has been greatly influenced by Michael Jackson and his showmanship as well as rappers Jay-Z, Lupe Fiasco, Little Brother, Nas and Kanye West. With an enormous passion for music and drive, it will not take long before Jones Andrews is a house hold name.
